As the perfect means to show what portaging was like, what better video to post than Bill Mason's The Voyageurs, produced by the National Film Board.
Could't help but notice the absence of any mention of the Indigenous scouts that guided the French explorers, except for a few spooky ghost faces at about the 3:45 point in the film.
