Nicholas Sparks and Sally Olmstead-Wright - the 200th Anniversary

The home of Nicholas & Sally Sparks on Wellington St., 1830

I WAS recently reminded of the 200th anniversary of the arrival of Nicholas Sparks to the Ottawa Valley which occurred in the Summer of 2016.

For the event, I was asked to speak of the Wright family connection, which was that Sarah "Sally" Olmstead married Nicholas in 1826. Sally was the widow of Philemon Wright Jr. (1783-1821), the eldest son of Philemon Wright and Abigail Wyman. Philemon Jr. and Sally had 8 children together and Sally had three more with Nicholas.
